Tuscarora is offering tennis camps this summer in our beautifully updated facility! Our overall goal is to keep kids active and encourage tennis as a lifetime sport of fun and great exercise. Players will enjoy working with USPTA teaching professionals with a variety of partner games, drills, match play and fitness exercises. All players should pack healthy snacks and water bottles for breaks. Also bring a notebook, hat/visor, towel, wristbands and sunscreen.

Quickstart (Ages 5-7) & Young Beginners (Ages 8-10)
Monday through Thursday
9am-12:30pm
$225 per week
In this camp, we work on all basic tennis skills with upbeat drills and exciting games. We help players develop motor skills needed for different strokes and everyone moves at their own pace based and ability. We use low compression balls, special court lines and size appropriate equipment for children of these ages. The camp emphasizes working with a partner, good sportsmanship and tons of fun!

Low Intermediates (Ages 10-14)
Monday through Thursday
1pm-4:30pm
$225 per week
This camp is geared toward higher level drills and developing skills and strategies for singles and doubles match play on a standard size court. Similar goals of team building and sportsmanship are encouraged in preparation for high school tennis and tournaments. More physical conditioning is emphasized to build strength and speed needed for competitive play.

Focus Camp (Ages 10 & up Tournament Level)
Monday through Thursday
1pm-4:30pm
$225 per week
These juniors should be committed to tournament competition as this camp is a concentrated program of multiple stroke drills and game play. Players will be recorded for video analysis and evaluate progress from the beginning to the end of the week. The camp addresses advanced match play, strategy, specialty strokes, fitness, nutrition and racquet care. Additionally, pre-match warm ups, stretches and focusing rituals will be covered. Training will be on hard courts as well as Har-Tru (clay) courts.

It is currently being used by tennis pros Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Jerzy Janowicz. We have it in 100 cu. in. size. The PureControl GT is more of an all-around performer with excellent versatility. The frame combines the rigidity of graphite and tungsten with the flexibility of carbon fiber to increase durability and better distribute the racquet’s weight. Come by and give them a swing!

Our junior students can now enjoy lessons with new practice nets that more closely resemble the real thing! Our new practice nets will more effectively aid younger players in transitioning to a full size format, a sometimes intimidating step. Practicing with these smaller nets builds skills that help younger players improve their form and understanding of tennis mechanics. Our junior members are the future of the sport and catering to their experience is important to us. Training with the right equipment goes a long way and is always a worthwhile investment. Stop by the Barn and speak with a Pro about lessons for your children today!

A Word on Snow

To quote Aubrey, “This sort of weather is exactly why we built the Barn in the first place!”. We are always open regardless of the weather outside. Conditions inside the barn are optimal for play and the lot is plowed each morning after snow falls. Members that have difficulty travelling to their scheduled playtimes are asked to call the other members of their group before notifying the Barn. If only one or two are unable to make it, we can find substitute players. This is a preferred alternative to cancelations, however, we do understand that the weather can cause unsafe road conditions. If your group decides to cancel, make up dates can be arranged. Thanks everybody! Stay warm and Happy Holidays!
