Tuscarora Tennis Club History

Founders Joyce & Aubrey Dixon

Tuscarora Racquet Club was founded by Joyce and Aubrey Dixon in 1972.  A close friend, George Hedstrom, provided “venture capital funding” and the two-court indoor tennis operation started under a bubble in the Dixons’ backyard.  The business grew quickly, leading to the construction of a four court metal building, called the Tennis “Barn,” off Route 180 in 1975.

Approximately 800 members now play, learn and practice at the Tennis Club, which also includes two outdoor Har-Tru clay courts, which are available from May through September each year.  The club prides itself on offering “The Best in Tennis”, including world class facilities, a wide range of tennis programs, and an outstanding teaching staff.
